Over the past few weeks, Brett and I have observed a funny little thing outside our front door. A fluffy little bird has found its resting spot underneath the roof over our front stoop. What we thought was just a one time fluke has turned into an almost daily occurrence. Each night the bird sleeps in the same spot and is always gone by morning. It never flies away when we open the door or tap on the window, allowing me to assume that the bird has no intention of giving up its new sleeping quarters. It also got me thinking about how every living and breathing "thing" just needs the comfort of a safe and cozy place, especially at the end of the day.
Coming home at the end of a long workday provides me with such a sigh of relief. Just turning into our culdesac takes away much of the stress and headache that I had even minutes before during my 30-mile commute. Walking through the front door and being greeted by hugs and kisses from Brett and Chafie is the icing on the cake.
Knowing how good it feels to find shelter, I could never evict our new friend. Plus, he's as quiet as a mouse and is gone by morning, which makes for an ideal house guest.
