My Birthday, Halloween, and the Day In Between

We just enjoyed a perfect couple of days. They were the kind of days when you wish you could stop time and live the moment forever. Saturday was my 31st birthday and I was lucky enough to spend the entire weekend with Brett and Evan. We spent most of the day lounging, watching football, and stuffing our faces with food. Brett cooked a special birthday breakfast and baked apple dumplings for dessert. Everything was delicious!

On Sunday we headed to Fearrington Village just outside Chapel Hill for a Halloween festival, complete with carved pumpkins, local beer, and live bluegrass music.
We've been to Fearrington before but never has it looked so festive and quaint. We all enjoyed the sights and sounds of the festival, especially with picture perfect fall weather in the air. More importantly, Evan officially debuted his Halloween costume and hopped around the festival with the other kids.

At last came Evan's first real trick-or-treat experience. Cool temperatures and raindrops didn't stop our little kangaroo from happily bouncing door-to-door to pick up his treats. We only took him to five houses but somehow he came home with a full bucket of candy. Who knows what's still hiding in his pouch!
